Gripper Frame for rug hooking

The Moondance Color Co. DH100 rug hooking lap frame with gripper strips is a perfect package of features at the right price.

The frame is made of hardwood with gripper strips inserted into hardwood channels for easy cleaning and replacement. This also provides a polished finish compared to stapled and glued gripper strips. The base is luan to minimize weight on the lap.

Top pieces are angled and curved so that the rug backing meets all the teeth and sits firmly.  A simple tug on opposing sides tightens it up quickly. This is a big improvement over frames with flat strips of carding cloth (gripper strips).

Base and all wooden parts are smoothed nicely and base corners are cut off and sanded. The frame is shipped unfinished for you to finish as you like or leave unfinished to mellow naturally.

Although the gripper strip teeth are undeniably sharp (they have to be!) and you should guard against children, pets and yourselves rubbing against them, the wooden channels they are seated in help protect vulnerable forearms. They also make it easy to replace the strips if that is ever necessary. Simply slide out. No need to pry out staples or nails or pull off glue!

Front and back legs are the same height.

Size of top is approx. 12" x 16" and sides are approx. 6" high. Although not foldable, it will fit easily into most suitcases or totes for travel.
